A grade school principle turns the students against each other to squeeze money out of parents who don't have it. A hostage situation, but there's a lot of this going on in education these days. This example is just more obvious than most.

A terrible story. Yet we shouldn't take comfort in any illusion that this sort of thing isn't happening on a grand scale all the time; this is simply a tiny, cruel example that we can focus on. Not to say it should go unchecked, however.
