Don Rickles died April 6, 2017.
At 90, he was still working. Basically he would have lunch and talk, and AARP would record it (and we can assume tip the waitress).
But he made his reputation long before then, on stage, in movies, and especially on the tv.
I didn't realize until he died that he was the same age as my father. This explains a lot about my childhood. My father wasn't the type to insult often; he was more likely to point at Rickles and give me a meaningful look as he laughed. There was a whole generation of Americans who appreciated it.
Jimmy Kimmel had the best response.
